About ITO as an office address

ITO sits on the Indraprastha Estate along Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Vikas Marg, which is nicknamed the Fleet Street of India. Occupiers are newspapers, government and public bodies and institutions; the Bureau of Indian Standards, the Comptroller and Auditor General and the University Grants Commission are among those on the road.

Violet Line

ITO station opened on 8 June 2015 on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, with the Income Tax Office, Feroz Shah Kotla and the newspaper offices nearby.

The Blue and Violet lines meet at Mandi House, a short distance away. The Violet Line section from Mandi House to ITO opened on 8 June 2015.

Road

Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg links the ITO crossing with Daryaganj, and Vikas Marg runs east.

Older institutional buildings

Many buildings date from the 1950s to the 1970s, and a 2023 PWD study found one building seismic unsafe. We survey structure, risers, AC and electrical capacity before any layout is fixed.

Land tenure and approvals

Plots sit under the Land and Development Office, MCD or DDA. We confirm the lease conditions and approval route with the owner before design, since disputes over unapproved construction and conversion charges are on record.

Redevelopment plans

Fire clearance
